Comparative Analysis of Dozer Network Performance
نویسنده
چکیده
Wireless Sensor Networks used in monitoring and surveillance scenarios are often deployed in areas that are difficult to access. As such they are required to work without any further human interaction and to recover from sensor node failures. The goal of this semester thesis was to get a better understanding of the Dozer network protocol used to communicate in the WSNs maintained by the PermaSense project. Using Spearman’s rank correlation the association between various parameters (e. g. failed transmissions or duplicate packets) collected in the WSNs since last summer have been analysed and compared between three deployments. The pre-analysis of the deployments showed that they have a different behaviour that can be attributed to their positioning, size, distance between nodes, and wireless link quality. During the project multiple previously made assumptions on the Dozer protocol could be verified and we showed that RSSI (received signal strength indicator) measurements can be related to the behaviour of the deployments. Finally a simple data reduction algorithm using a classification approach that is based on the cumulative distribution functions of the collected parameters has shown to be feasible to reduce the required bits to store and process the data.

Using Fault Tree Analysis to Focus Mine Safety Research
Fault tree analysis is a systematic safety analysis tool that proceeds deductively from the occurrence of an undesired event (accident) to the identification of the root causes of that event. One recurring mine safety problem—a dozer falling into a void over a drawpoint on a coal surge pile—was analyzed using available, inexpensive fault tree programs on a personal computer. The analysis identi...
متن کاملComparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....
متن کاملComparison of Artificial Neural Network and Multiple Regression Analysis for Prediction of Fat Tail Weight of Sheep
A comparative study of artificial neural network (ANN) and multiple regression is made to predict the fat tail weight of Balouchi sheep from birth, weaning and finishing weights. A multilayer feed forward network with back propagation of error learning mechanism was used to predict the sheep body weight. The data (69 records) were randomly divided into two subsets. The first subset is the train...
متن کاملComparative Analysis of Short-Term Price Forecasting Models: Iran Electricity Market
As the electricity industry has changed and became more competitive, the electricity price forecasting has become more important. Investors need to estimate future prices in order to take proper strategy to maintain their market share and to maximize their profits. In the economic paradigm, this goal is pursued using econometric models. The validity of these models is judged by their forecastin...
